The UTI Self-Test & Treat Kit is suitable for Women aged 18 to 65 years of age who are not currently pregnant. 

Treatment cannot be supplied if any of the following apply to you. You can purchase our other UTI Self-Test Kit and determine whether you have a UTI and seek further medical advice from your doctor. 

• Patients under 18 years of age or over 65 years of age 
• Patients who present for prophylaxis for a UTI
• Males
• Hypersensitivity to the active substance, or to any of the excipients 
• Suspected sepsis/pyelonephritis or other more serious disease
• Vaginal discharge or irritationPatients with an indwelling urinary catheter
• Patients who have been treated for a UTI in the last three months 
• Pregnant or breastfeeding 
• Known renal or hepatic impairment
• Patients who are immunosuppressed 
• Patients with or susceptible to peripheral neuropathy
• Patients with acute porphyria
• Patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency
• Nitrofurantion preparations contain lactose. Patients with problems of galactose intolerance, total lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medicine
• Patients with problems of fructose intolerance, glucose- galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency should not take this medicine
• Medications that interfere with Nitrofurantoin:
• Increased absorption with food or agents delaying gastric emptying
• Decreased absorption with magnesium trisilicate
• Decreased renal excretion of nitrofurantoin by probenecid and Sulphinpyrazone
• Decreased anti-bacterial activity by carbonic anhydrase
• Inhibitors and urine alkalisation
• Anti-bacterial antagonism by quinolone anti-infectives
• Reduced efficacy of oestrogen-containing contraceptives
• Nitrofurantoin will inactivate the oral typhoid vaccine

To perform the self-test:

1. Remove the strip from the sealed pouch and hold absorbent tip in urine stream or in a collected urine sample for 1-2 seconds.
2. Remove the tip from the urine and place the test stick on an absorbent material (e.g. paper towal) to remove excess urine. 
3. Match the colour of the test strip pads to the colour blocks on the app to determine results.
