Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

Symptoms of IBS

IBS is one of the most common conditions that affects the digestive system.

IBS is thought to affect 1 in 5 people at some point in their life.

Symptoms can vary day to day but may include:

  • Stomach pains or cramps
  • Bloating
  • Diarrhoea
  • Constipation

What causes IBS?

Diet has been shown to trigger IBS and you should monitor your intake of fruit, dairy, artificial sweeteners, caffeine, spicy foods and alcohol to identify any problem foods.  Drinking plenty of water should also help.

If symptoms are not improved by lifestyle changes or if they get worse, Rightdose has a number of treatments available for you.  We recommend you discuss these with your pharmacist.

If your symptoms do not improve or get worse, or they are accompanied by unexplained weight loss, blood in your stool or a hard lump/swelling in your tummy, you need to consult your GP.
