Morning After Pill

How does the morning after pill work?

If you have had unprotected sex or your usual contraceptive method has failed, you may be concerned about becoming pregnant.

The morning after pill can be taken up to 5 days after unprotected sex but it is more effective the sooner it is taken.

The pill works by delaying ovulation.  It should not be taken as a regular means of contraception.

How to receive the morning after pill

If you need the morning after pill immediately, just pop into a Rightdose pharmacy for a confidential chat with our pharmacists and they can discuss the best options for you and provide any further support.

If you don’t immediately need the morning after pill, you can purchase a pack online in consultation with one of our pharmacists.  You must be over 16 years to use this service.

If the morning after pill is prescribed by your GP or sexual health clinic or if, in some areas, your local pharmacy is part of a local NHS service, it can be free.
