Overview

Numark Heartburn&Acid Reflux 20mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets - Omeprazole (Pack 7)

Numark Heartburn and Acid Reflux Tablets are used in adults for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms, such as heartburn and acid regurgitation.

Suitable for Adults 18 years old or over.

Numark Heartburn and Acid Reflux tablets contain the active substance omeprazole. It belongs to a group of medicines called "proton pump inhibitors". They work by reducing the amount of acid that the stomach produces.

Please be aware that these tablets are intended to help with the symptoms for a short time period and they are not meant to bring immediate relief. It might be necessary to take the tablets for 2-3 consecutive days to achieve improvement of symptoms.

What is Reflux?

Reflux is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the gullet "food pipe", which may become inflamed and painful. This may cause symptoms such as a painful burning sensation in the chest rising up to the throat (heartburn) and sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).

FAQ

What does it mean if I get heartburn regularly?

Our bodies use stomach acid to break down the contents of food, and we have a valve or "gate" in our oesophagus that keeps this acid in place. Occasionally, the acid will get through, and create the feeling of heartburn.

Sufferers often complain of discomfort after eating, or when lying down.

Try to:

  • Get a good night’s sleep. A lack of sleep can lead to higher stress levels.
  • Exercise - this boosts wellbeing.
  • Eat more slowly and mindfully.
  • Try to avoid unhealthy lifestyle habits.
  • You might also try reducing your meal-sizes and watching how much spicy food you eat (a trigger).
  • Pregnant mothers are also much more likely to suffer from heartburn and indigestion. A growing baby bump puts pressure on your system, and makes refluxing acid a very common reality of pregnant life.
