Golden Eye 0.1 % w/v Eye Drops Solution is a medicine available without a prescription. However, you still need to use Golden Eye 0.1 % w/v Eye Drops Solution carefully to get the best results from it.

Golden Eye Drops used to treat minor eye or eyelid infections, such as conjunctivitis and blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids).

Golden Eye stops bacteria from growing and multiplying, controlling the numbers causing the eye infection and helping to relieve your symptoms. The remaining bacteria die or are killed by your body’s immune system.

Propamidine isetionate, the active ingredient, belongs to a group of medicines called antiseptics. Antiseptics are used to treat infections caused by bacteria.

Treatment for:

  • Blepharitis
  • Conjunctivitis

Eye infections are quite common, and can be caused by:

  • Contact with someone who’s already got an eye infection
  • Low immune system - for example when you have a cold or the flu
  • Touching or rubbing your eyes when your fingers are not clean
  • Wearing contact lenses and having poor lens hygiene

Conjunctivitis Symptoms:

  • The white of your eye may look red or pink
  • Eyelids may be inflamed and sore
  • Eye may feel gritty and itchy
  • White or yellow sticky discharge from your eye
  • Eyelids may be stuck together in the morning
  • Discharge on the eyelashes

Styes Symptoms:

  • A painful lump on or inside the eyelid or around the eye
  • The skin may be red, swollen and filled with yellow pus like a pimple
  • Your eye may be red and watery but your vision should not be affected
  • Feels painful or tender when you blink

Golden Eye Drops can be used in conjunction with Golden Eye Ointment.

If using Golden Eye 0.1% w/v Eye Drops Solution during the day and Golden Eye 0.15% w/w Eye Ointment at night, apply the ointment before going to bed.

FAQ

Bacterial Conjunctivitis - What is it?

Bacterial conjunctivitis is a common condition which causes inflammation of the thin layer of tissue that covers the front of the eye (the conjunctiva). Conjunctivitis is sometimes referred to as red-eye. It can affect one eye at first, but usually affects both eyes after a short time. It can occur when you are run down or your immune system is low, which is why many people get conjunctivitis when they have a cold. Conjunctivitis is highly contagious and can be spread easily through contact with the discharge from the eyes. This is why the condition often starts in one eye and then spreads to the other and also spreads easily from person to person.

Stye - What is it?

Styes develop when a gland at the edge of the eyelid becomes infected. Resembling a ‘pimple’ on the eyelid, a stye can grow on the inside or outside of the lid. This will usually only affect one eye, although it is possible for both eyes to be affected.

The key to successful management is to get the infection site to form a ‘point’. A warm compress should help the point to burst on its own to help relieve the discomfort.

Important: DO NOT try to burst a stye or remove an eyelash yourself. This can spread the infection.

Blepharitis - What is it?

Blepharitis is the medical term for inflamed eyelids. Blepharitis can be caused by a type of bacteria that lives on the skin or a skin condition, such as atopic dermatitis. In most cases both eyes are affected, but one eye can be more affected than the other. The symptoms tend to be worse in the morning. Most people experience repeated episodes followed by periods with no symptoms.
