No drugs, no heating or cooling,
FlexiSEQ's SEQ Tech® is one-of-a-kind treatment for joint pain and stiffness.
It is specially designed for people who do sports or have an active and sportive lifestyle, who can sometimes have additional pressures put on their joints. Whether you're cycling to work, walking the hills, hitting the gym or taking a weekend yoga class or playing football, basketball, tennis, FlexiSEQ provides trusted relief from the pain and stiffness of joint wear and tear to keep you moving.
Flexiseq active can provide joint lubrication to help prevent the friction that can lead to joint problems. Flexiseq active is a long-term solution for sportsmen and women and other active people who wish to protect against friction, wear and tear that might appear in their joints during periods of physical exertion.
Clinically proven
In studies across almost 1,500 osteoarthritis patients, FlexiSEQ showed improvements in pain, joint stiffness and physical function, as well as an impeccable safety profile.
SEQ Tech®
FlexiSEQ Active gel helps to relieve pain and improve joint mobility thanks to billions of plant-based, oily droplets called Sequessomes. Activated when Flexiseq gel dries on the skin, these tiny, flexible droplets pass through the skin and into target joints, where they localise on cartilage surfaces to form a lubricating layer. We call our unique lubricating mode of action SEQ Tech® and it’s the revolutionary driving-force powering FlexiSEQ Max Strength. Sequessomes™ Microscopic droplets called Sequessome™ vesicles have the optimal characteristics for the lubrication of joint cartilage – size, compressibility and hydration.
Sequessomes™ effectively supplement the important lubricating layer of phospholipids otherwise found on healthy cartilage and restock the levels floating around in the synovial fluid.
Lubricating action
Rather than simply masking the pain like a typical painkiller, FlexiSEQ's lubricating mode of action targets the underlying characteristics of osteoarthritis, thereby reducing the causes of pain, inflammation and joint stiffness.

FAQ
How does Flexiseq work?
FlexiSEQ treatments are drug-free and relieve the pain and stiffness associated with osteoarthritis. FlexiSEQ exerts its pain-relieving effect via lubrication of the joint which is a physical mode of action. It has no pharmacological, metabolic or immunological activity. FlexiSEQ is a gel containing Sequessome vesicles (SEQ Tech), which are tiny lipid spheres. As the gel dries on the skin, these spheres change their shape and pass through the skin, then into the joint where they lubricate the surface of the cartilage to provide relief from pain and stiffness. They are compressible and deformable, yet stable.
Patients with joint disorders such as OA have been found to have reduced levels of lubricants in their synovial fluid and this is one of the factors contributing to the pain and loss of joint function in patients with OA. There is also strong evidence in published literature that liposome vesicles can act as a bio-lubricant in the knee joint, and hence can reduce pain and improve mobility.
Research has shown that following topical application of FlexiSEQ, the Sequessome vesicles (SEQ Tech) pass through the skin and enter the synovial joint where they collect on cartilage surfaces. The physical properties of Sequessome vesicles (SEQ Tech) make them particularly efficient at lubricating the joint surfaces.
What is the difference between Flexiseq Max Strength (for Osteoarthritis) and Flexiseq (for Joint & Wear)?
- FlexiSEQ Max Strength (for Osteoarthritis) is intended for patients who need to treat the pain and stiffness associated with OA. Patients seeking maximum strength treatment for their symptoms should choose FlexiSEQ Max Strength. SEQ Tech inside FlexiSEQ Max Strength (for Osteoarthritis) delivers lubricating ingredients into joints to help reduce pain and improve mobility.
- FlexiSEQ (for Joint Wear & Tear) contains a lighter formulation specially formulated to help restore joint function and relieve the pain associated with joint wear and tear. SEQ Tech inside FlexiSEQ delivers plant-based phospholipids into joints to help lubricate and protect damaged cartilage.
All FlexiSEQ products contain Sequessome Technology – tiny lipid spheres that pass through the skin when the gel is applied topically. FlexiSEQ Max Strength (for Osteoarthritis) contains the maximum concentration of these vesicles. FlexiSEQ (for Joint Wear & Tear) contains a lower concentration of the vesicles, making it lighter and therefore suitable for less severe symptoms of joint wear and tear.
Side Effects
Flexiseq Active Gel
There have been no serious side effects reported, relating to Flexiseq. Flexiseq can cause minor skin irritations, although not everybody gets them.
- Do not use it, if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, our Rightdose pharmacists or nurse. - You can help to make medicines safer by reporting any side-effects to the Yellow Card Scheme at www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard.
Can Flexiseq be used alongside medications?
FlexiSEQ does not contain any active pharmaceutical ingredients and therefore cannot compromise any existing oral medications, such as low-dose aspirin, paracetamol, diuretics.
If you have any specific concerns, a pharmacist or doctor should be consulted.
- Side effects affecting the skin and subcutaneous tissue (the soft tissue beneath the skin) could occur after approximately two weeks of treatment but should disappear within a further few weeks if you continue to use the product. In case of continuing side effects, you may first reduce the dose (e.g. from twice daily to once daily). If this does not improve the condition, you may discontinue treatment with the product until the event resolves, which could be within a few days. You may then be able to restart the administration of the product after improvement of the skin condition if there is no evidence of allergic reactions resulting from skin contact.
- In the event of serious side effects, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist. There are no known interactions with other medicines.
Info Leaflet
The gel is applied topically and is formulated to fight joint pain linked to osteoarthritis. Daily application, twice a day, morning and evening, should help bring about a noticeable improvement in joint pain in as little as two days.

What is Flexiseq?
Flexiseq Gel is a topical application to help in the relief of joint pain often associated with arthritic conditions.
What is the ingredient of Flexiseq?
Flexiseq is a drug-free treatment, which uses Sequessome Technology to help lubricate the painful joint.
How does Flexiseq work?
Flexiseq works by inserting Sequessome vesicles into the joint. These vesicles seek out a watery environment and penetrate the skin once dried until they reach the joint. Here they enter into the synovial fluid of the joint, helping lubrication. The accumulation of the vesicle on the cartilage surfaces help relieve pain with this lubricating layer.
How do I use Flexiseq?
Flexiseq should be applied twice daily. Depending on the size of the joint you will require a different amount. You may need to apply up to:
- 2g for the knee
- 3g for the hip
- 1g for the hand.
How effective is Flexiseq?
Flexiseq has been shown in clinical studies to achieve a reduction in pain by up to 50%, and improve movement by 40%.
What are the side effects of Flexiseq?
The most common side effects of Flexiseq are slight skin reactions, sometimes caused by sensitivity to some of the ingredients in the gel.
How soon does Flexiseq work?
You will usually notice the difference after two days of use.
Directions
Read the whole leaflet carefully before you start using this product. Keep this leaflet for future reference
Directions:
Flexiseq should be applied twice daily to the affected joint, usually in the morning and the evening. Use enough gel to evenly cover the soft tissue around the joint.
How quickly does Flexiseq work?
Twice-daily treatment with FlexiSEQ provides pain relief after as little as 2 days, which is comparable with the onset of sustainable pain relief to other OA therapies. It may take several days for the full effect to be seen.
Once applied to the skin, flexiseq gel begins to dry, which triggers the activity of the sequessome vesicles through the skin. This gel is a great alternative to the standard treatments of joint pain and can be used in conjunction with existing treatments.
For the knee: a twice-daily dose of 2.2 g corresponding to approximately 7 cm line of gel as squeezed from the tube is recommended. The gel should not be applied to the patella (knee cap) and should include the area at the back of the knee.
The gel must be allowed to dry before covering; drying should take no longer than 10 minutes if the product is applied to clean, dry skin. If drying takes longer than this, ensure that the skin is dry (for example if applying after a bath or shower) and try using a little less gel.
Alternatively, a hairdryer (on a low/cool setting) can be used to speed up the drying time. If the drying time is considerably less than 10 minutes then a little more gel can be used next time. Please wash your hands after applying the gel.
For the hip: Locate the edge of your pelvis (or hip bone) at your side and apply the gel approximately two inches below where you can no longer feel bone but soft tissue. Do not spread towards the buttocks but instead towards your centre line.
It is difficult to give precise dosing amounts for the hip as the size of this joint can vary widely from patient to patient.
If you consider yourself to be of average weight, use approximately 3 g (approximately 10 cm line of gel as squeezed from the tube) to cover an area of approximately the size of your hand.
If you believe you are above average size, you may need to apply a little more. You will know if you have applied the correct amount as it should take around 10 minutes to dry.
For the first few applications, the amount applied may need to be increased or decreased to achieve a 10 minute drying time.
For the shoulder: It is difficult to give precise dosing amounts for the shoulder as the size of this joint and location of the pain varies from patient to patient.
If you consider yourself to be of average weight, use approximately 2.2 g corresponding to approximately a 7 cm line of gel as squeezed from the tube to cover the area corresponding to the location of your pain.
If you believe you are above average size, you may need to apply a little more. You will know if you have applied the correct amount as it should take around 10 minutes to dry (although may remain tacky after this time).
