FAQ

What is Co-codamol?
Co-codamol is a combination of painkillers; Paracetamol (a mild to moderate painkiller) and Codeine (a slightly stronger painkiller known as an opioid).

How does Co-codamol work?
Using its 2 main ingredients:
Paracetamol works by reducing the production of prostaglandins, which sensitise nerve endings, causing pain. By reducing the body's production of these, although the cause of the pain remains, we don't feel it as much.
Codeine (an Opioid painkiller) works by mimicking the action of natural pain-reducing chemicals called endorphins that are produced in the brain and spinal cord. Codeine acts on the same opioid receptors as natural endorphins and this blocks the transmission of pain signals sent by the nerves to the brain. This means that even though the cause of the pain may remain, less pain is actually felt.
