Wegovy tablets are taken once daily and may be suitable for patients who prefer oral medication rather than injections.
Oral semaglutide uses SNAC (a specialised absorption enhancer) that allows the medication to be absorbed through the stomach. This technology helps protect semaglutide from breakdown within the digestive system and improves absorption into the bloodstream.
Because of this formulation, Wegovy tablets must be taken exactly as directed, usually on an empty stomach with a small amount of water and with no food or drink for at least 30mins afterwards.
