Getting vaccinated can be daunting, particularly for children. We recommend that you explain to your child why they are getting a vaccination and briefly tell them what is going to happen.

It also helps if you bring their favourite toy or have them watch a video on your phone or tablet whilst they are getting the vaccination. You can bring a snack for them to have after the vaccination in case they feel faint.

Most vaccines take around one to two weeks to become fully effective. In some cases, you might require to complete a course of vaccinations, so your immunity will only develop after you complete the full course. You can ask our pharmacist for more details.

Our lead clinic Pharmacist will administer your vaccine or treatment.

Our Ear Wax Removal service however is provided by Clearer Ears who provide a registered nurse to carry out this particular service. You can find more information on this service here.

Do not worry, you are not alone. In fact, around 1 in 10 people in the UK have some sort of needle phobia. First, try to remember why you are getting the vaccination – it can minimise your risk of catching the disease you are being vaccinated against.

Secondly, a technique called applied muscle tension can be used to prevent fainting. Sit comfortably, tense the muscles in your arms, upper body and legs and hold the tension for around 15 seconds until you feel a warm sensation in your head.

Then relax your body for 30 seconds and repeat the process 5 times. Make sure you let us know beforehand if you have a history of fainting when getting vaccinations, we will ensure we can give you extra time to not feel rushed.

If you do not have a fever and your symptoms are not severe, you can be vaccinated.  Call us if you are not sure and we can advise further.
