Commonly Asked Questions

Yellow Fever FAQs

Who Can Get The Yellow Fever Vaccine At Rightdose Clinic Glasgow?

We are a registered Yellow Fever Centre and vaccinate adults and children over two years. Some people might not be able to receive the vaccine from us due to immunosuppression or certain medical conditions. The Pharmacist will assess whether the vaccine is suitable for you.

What Are The Side Effects?

In most people, the side effects are mild and get better within three days. The side effects include pain at injection site, headache, fever and muscle pains.

In very rare cases, people can develop serious side effects that resemble the Yellow Fever infection and can potentially be fatal. This is more prevalent in young babies under nine months and adults over 60.

The Pharmacist will assess the suitability of each patient to ensure the vaccine is administered safely.

How Long Before Travelling Should I Get The Yellow Fever Vaccine?

You should get the vaccine at least 10 days before travelling to a risk area. The vaccine is normally valid for life, so boosters are not generally required.
