Overview

Biodegradable Eyelid Wipes (Pack of 20)

The Eye Doctor Biodegradable Eyelid Wipes are individually wrapped and pre-soaked eye wipes with a sterile, preservative-free saline solution to create an efficient, gentle remedy for daily eyelid hygiene.

Eyelid wipes are ideal for cleaning away dirt and debris from the eyelid and eyelashes without irritation. The soap-free, rinse-free formula maintains the lipid layer of the tear film which is essential in reducing tear evaporation. Without this layer, eyes can become very dry and irritated.

The Eyelid Wipes should be used twice a day – morning and evening, as part of your eyelid hygiene regime.

Key Benefits:

  • Gently cleans sensitive eyelids
  • Generous size for clean the eyes
  • Cooling and Soothing treatment for dry eyes

Dry Eyes

Many people get dry eyes. It's not usually serious and there are things you can do to help. You can get dry eyes if you do not make enough tears or your tears dry up quickly.

Most common symptoms of dry eyes - You may have dry eyes if your eyes are:

  • more watery than normal.
  • sensitive to light
  • blurry
  • red
  • gritty
  • sore
  • itchy

Causes of dry eyes - You may be more likely to get dry eyes if:

  • you're over the age of 50
  • you wear contact lenses
  • you look at computer screens for a long time without a break
  • you spend time in air conditioned or heated environments
  • it's windy, cold, dry or dusty
  • you smoke or drink alcohol
  • you take certain medicines (for example, some antidepressants or blood pressure medicines)
  • you have a condition, such as blepharitis, Sjögren's syndrome or lupus.

How to treat dry eyes yourself:

  • clean your eyelids every day
  • take breaks to rest your eyes when using a computer screen
  • make sure your computer screen is just below eye level
  • use a humidifier to stop the air getting dry
  • if you wear contact lenses, take them out and wear glasses to rest your eyes.

See an optician or GP if you still have dry eyes after trying home treatments for a few weeks or there's any change in the shape of your eyelids. They can check what the cause might be and recommend treatment for it.

For best results combine the Eyelid Wipes treatment with Antibacterial Dry Eye Compress for relaxing your eyes. It can be used as a cold compress or a hot compress as required.

A good self care guide and information for Dry Eyes is available on the NHS website.

FAQ

Eyelid problems:

Find out what to do if you have a lump on your eyelid, or an eyelid that's swollen, sticky, itchy, drooping or twitching.

Most eyelid problems are harmless and not serious.

It's fairly common to have any of these problems:

  • a lump that goes away by itself after 3 or 4 weeks
  • mildly itchy, flaky or sticky eyelids that clear up by themselves
  • swelling from a nearby insect bite, injury or operation that goes away after a week or so
  • twitching or blinking from time to time – often when you're tired
  • eyelids that droop (or get more "hooded") as you get older.

What makes the Eyelid Wipes Biodegradable?

Made from Viscose fibres, our wipes are fully biodegradable in natural environments:

  • in the soil, compost and both fresh or marine water.

They will fully convert back to nature and do not require recycling. At The Body Doctor, we recognise that being sustainable is becoming a necessity due to ever-changing perceptions around the world and we are starting to bridge the gap between ‘knowing’ and ‘doing,’ by embracing sustainable products, packaging and practices. We believe our eyelid wipes being biodegradable is a first for the optical industry and we are dedicated to continue this initiative across our whole portfolio, reducing as much impact to the environment as possible.

How do the Eyelid Wipes work?

Eyelid Wipes are ideal for cleaning away dirt and debris from the eyelid and eyelashes without irritation. The soap-free, rinse-free formula maintains the lipid layer of the tear film which is essential in reducing tear evaporation. Without this layer, eyes can become very dry and irritated.

The Eyelid Wipes should be used twice a day – morning and evening, as part of your eyelid hygiene regime.

  • Cooling
  • Soothing
  • Gently cleans
  • Refreshing
  • Suitable for sensitive Eyes.

Directions:

Eyelid cleaning should be performed gently, with clean hands. If you have crusty buildup along the lash line, a warm washcloth can be used to loosen it before using a wipe or cleanser.

  • Wash your hands thoroughly and remove contact lenses if you are wearing them.
  • Close your eyes.
  • Gently apply the eyelid wipe to your eyelid with a side-to-side motion.
  • Repeat this process as needed or as directed by your eye doctor.

Use only one wipe per eye. If you experience a negative reaction or discomfort, stop using the product immediately and rinse your eyes with lukewarm water.

Warnings

Do not use it if the sachet is open or damaged.

  • Store  in a cool dry place.
  • Dispose of the wipe after use.

For external use only.

Call 999 or go to A&E if:

  • you have any changes to your sight, like wavy lines, flashing or loss of vision.
  • it hurts to look at the light.
  • you have a red eye, severe headache and feel sick.
  • your eye or eyes are very dark red.
  • you have injured or pierced your eye.
