What is gradual tan?

Best described as moisturiser-meets-fake tan, gradual tanning products aim to help you achieve a softer, more natural-looking colour day-by-day. Unlike self tan, which gives you results after just one application, gradual tan is typically applied daily in order to build a glow over time.

How Long Does Gradual Tan Take to Develop?

When applied on a daily basis, a gradual tan will take two to three days to develop fully into a light, natural glow. The beauty of gradual tan is its ability to be topped up every few days to keep up a consistent colour.

So how do you keep this sun-kissed look all-year round? With the best self-tanner.

For the best application, moisturising is key, but that’s even easier when your tanning lotion already is a moisturiser. Try a gradual tan moisturiser such as Dove Summer Revived Body Lotion, with two shades to match more skin tones.

• Use sweeping, circular movements to rub in your tanning lotion and try to give it at least half an hour to sink in before you get dressed for a nice, even finish. Voila: glowing, sun-kissed skin, whatever the weather.
