Sensodyne Pronamel toothpaste is specially formulated to protect against the effects of acid erosion and also maintains healthy teeth and gums, provides cavity protection and leaves your mouth feeling fresh and clean.
Pronamel for Children is a daily toothpaste which has been designed to help protect children's teeth from the effects of enamel wear through acid erosion.
Early intervention is key because:
- Baby teeth have thinner and softer enamel than adult teeth.
- Permanent teeth are at risk of acid erosion as soon as they appear in the mouth.
- Enamel wear is irreversible.
It's important to make sure that children's permanent teeth, which come through mostly between the ages of 6 and 12, stay strong and healthy.
This toothpaste is developed with dentists to help protect children's teeth from dietary acid wear and it is proven to re-harden and strengthen acid-softened tooth enamel.
Everyone recognises sugar now related tooth decay as a major issue in children's oral health. Enamel wear in children’s teeth is a growing concern as Dental professionals are seeing signs of enamel wear caused by acids in their diets, in a number of children and teenage patients.
Now, dentists are also concerned about the frequent consumption of acidic foods and drinks found in today's diet for example: soft drinks. Acids in your diet can soften the protective surface of your tooth, making it more vulnerable to being worn away over time, and young adult teeth are especially vulnerable.
Pronamel for Children also has all the benefits of a regular fluoride toothpaste including cavity protection and fresh breath with brushing.
Understanding Tooth Enamel
Tooth enamel is the hard, visible, outermost covering of your teeth. Enamel is translucent, giving teeth their sparkle, and depending on its thickness, it shows through the colour of the underlying dentine which varies from light yellow to a grey or blue-like white. It’s the hardest substance in the human body and contains a high percentage of minerals.
Pronamel for Children toothpaste cleans and freshens your mouth and breath with a unique gentle mint flavour.

FAQ
Can tooth enamel be restored?
Even though enamel is a strong substance, once enamel erodes or gets damaged, it cannot be regenerated—so it’s important to protect it. Knowing how to protect and preserve your tooth enamel from erosion and decay begins with a basic understanding of what enamel is, how it gets damaged, and the steps you can take on a daily basis to protect it.
What is Acid Erosion?
Acid erosion is common, yet, many people are unaware of the effect it can have on their teeth.
Acid erosion is an oral health concern that continues to grow in prevalence. Acid erosion (also known as erosive tooth wear, enamel erosion or tooth erosion) is the process that can lead to the irreversible loss of precious tooth enamel (the tooth’s hard surface layer).
Acid erosion is primarily caused by acids contained in many everyday acidic foods and drinks, including some healthy choices like fruit and juices. When acid comes into contact with teeth, the hard enamel surface can temporarily soften, leaving it more vulnerable to damage from contact with other surfaces such as other teeth and a toothbrush.
Brushing too hard can speed up wear caused by the acids contained in food and drink. This is particularly important in the minutes after eating or drinking acidic foodstuffs when enamel is most susceptible to damage. Other causes can be regular use of acidic medication or gastric reflux.
Protecting your teeth from acid erosion begins by understanding exactly what it is, what causes it, how it differs from cavities and what you can do to help prevent it.

- Use a pea-sized dab of an ADA-accepted fluoride toothpaste. Take care that your child does not swallow the toothpaste.
- Using a soft-bristled toothbrush, brush the inside surface of each tooth first, where plaque may accumulate most. Brush gently back and forth.
- Clean the outer surfaces of each tooth. Angle the brush along the outer gumline. Gently brush back and forth.
- Brush the chewing surface of each tooth. Gently brush back and forth.
- Use the tip of the brush to clean behind each front tooth, both top and bottom.
