About Peptac Liquid
Peptac Liquid is a treatment for heartburn and indigestion and can also be referred to as an antacid. It should be taken at meal times, and at bedtime if required, to help relieve the symptoms of indigestion and heartburn.

What is Peptac Liquid?
Peptac is an antacid treatment, used in relieving the symptoms of acid reflux/heartburn. It works by stopping stomach acid from leaving the stomach and entering the food pipe causing pain and discomfort.

What are the ingredients in Peptac Liquid?
Peptac contains three active ingredients, which are:

• Sodium alginate
• Sodium bicarbonate
• Calcium carbonate

Who is Peptac liquid suitable for?
Peptac is suitable for adults and children aged 6 years and above, it, however, is not suitable for patients who are allergic to any of the ingredients in the medication. If you are taking any other medication it is advised that you speak to your own GP before taking this medication.

How long does Peptac last?
The effects of Peptac and other antacids, generally last for 3-4 hours.

Can I take Peptac Liquid when pregnant or breastfeeding?
Yes. You can take Peptac when pregnant or breastfeeding to help relieve indigestion/heartburn that is often associated with pregnancy

Can I take Peptac with other medications?
Ideally, you should not be taking Peptac at the same time of day as other medication (within 2 hours of medication) as antacids can impair the absorption of some medications. You should speak to your doctor or pharmacist if unsure if you can take Peptac with the medication you are on.

How much Peptac should I be using?
Adults and children over the age of 12 can take 10-20 mls up to four times a day. For children aged 6 to 12 are required to take 5-10mls up to four times a day.

When should I take Peptac Liquid?
It is best to take Peptac liquid after each meal and at bedtime (this is when the acid in your stomach can present problems) to help relieve symptoms of heartburn and indigestion. The Peptac Liquid will also remain in the stomach for longer at these times and therefore will have longer to act.

There are no known side effects with the use of Peptac, however, if you do notice or suffer any side effects it is advised that you consult your own doctor.

Directions of use for Peptac Liquid
Peptac Liquid should be taken orally.

Before taking, ensure you shake the bottle well.

For adults and children over 12 years old:
Take TWO to FOUR (5ml) spoonfuls after meals and before going to bed.  

Leave a gap of 1-2 hours between each dose and with other medicines.
For children aged between 6 to 12 years old:
Take ONE to TWO (5ml) spoonfuls after meals and before going to bed.  

Leave a gap of 1-2 hours between each dose and with other medicines.

Warnings for Peptac Liquid
Peptac Liquid warnings:

Do not give to children under 6 years old.
Keep out of the sight and reach of children
Do not store above 25 degrees Celsius
Do not refrigerate
Do not take if you are allergic to any of the ingredients contained in this medicine
Take special care if you are on a sodium-restricted diet as 10mls of Peptac Liquid contains approximately 6 mmoles of sodium.
