Clean water for all

Here in the UK, we take clean water for granted.

When we want a glass of water to refresh ourselves and stay healthy, we just turn on the tap.

But millions of people around the world don’t have access to clean water, leading to ill-health, disease and death.

Pakistan’s water crisis

The majority of Pakistanis do not have access to clean drinking water. Over 50% of patients admitted to hospitals and 30% of deaths nationwide are linked to waterborne diseases.

Pakistan is facing a severe water crisis, with about 92% of the country being classified as semi-arid to arid.

Some predictions warn that Pakistan could run dry by 2025, just five years from now. Water scarcity in Pakistan has been accompanied by rising temperatures.

Each year, scores of people lose their lives due to heatstroke across the country, particularly in the southern city of Karachi.

With water availability per person declining each year and demand for food production continuously increasing due to a rapidly growing population, Pakistan faces not only a water crisis but also serious concerns regarding its future food security.

The Sarwar Foundation – driving change for a better future

The Sarwar Foundation is a UK charity working to provide clean water for impoverished communities in Pakistan.

To date, the Sarwar Foundation has installed 170 filtration plants across Pakistan, providing over 2 million people with clean and safe drinking water.

At Rightdose, we’re proud to have made a donation to help the charity build another clean water plant.

Why we are helping to deliver clean water for all

By providing clean water, families and communities are given a hand up in improving their whole lives. Without having to walk miles for water, children are now able to go to school.

People are staying healthier for longer and can focus on work and building lasting income-generating initiatives for their families. When families flourish, so do local economies and entire communities.

As a community pharmacy, we understand how important it is to bring people together. We hope our donation makes a real difference to people’s lives, and if you want to help more communities in Pakistan, you can donate here.
